Covered or street markets, fresh produce or books, Paris is a great city to shop neighborhood markets! In the culinary capital, fresh ingredients are important to most individuals and important for local communties and the environment as well.
This weekend, I was able to visit Vincennes' weekly market ( a chic suburb just outside of Paris). The sidewalks up and down Diderot street are filled with fresh produce vendors, organic bakeries and even a few book and jewelry stands.
Going to one of these markets, you can't help but noticed the difference in quality, color and freshness compared to your average grocery store. And contrary to popular belief, the prices are often equal if not better than what you will find in a grocery store for similar organic produce. I simply refuse to by my leeks anywhere else!
Every arrondisement has their own market, which means less travel and less bulk. To find a market near you, visit: http://marche.equipement.paris.fr/tousleshoraires
Or you can simply join me next weekend where I'll be visting Saint-Maur's open market. Happy shopping!
